230 mile drive from Lake Havasu City through to Meteor Crater (35 miles west of Flagstaff where we ended up staying). Drove through a heavy thunderstorm at one point.
So 50,000 years ago a 150 ft wide chunk of iron smacked into the Arizona plateau at 29,000 mph leaving a 700 ft deep and 4,000 ft wide crater. Quite an impressive site and the museum wasn't bad either (good intercative game where you can design a meteor/comet/asteroid and choose how fast and what angle it hits the Earth (or ny other planet). The girls enjoyed destroying the planet with a 4000km wide comet hitting head on at 45mps.
Big traffic jam in Flagstaff as they had a big flood in the afternoon, there were rocks from roadside displays in the middle of the road.
I paid a trip to the local laundramat to get the washing and drying done or else we'd run out of clean clothes.
Dinner at Grannie's Corner, very good local restaurant. Got 10% off as the waiter forgot to get our beer/wine in on time. But the food was fantastic - medium done steaks all round except for Caitlin who had chicken wrap.
