Where I stayed
Quite a long trip from Flagstaff.
We stopped off at a new animal park called Bearizona on the way. It's going to be part safari park, part zoo once finished. At the moment it's a safari park. Highlights were the adult Black Bears and the bear and wolf cubs.
Bit of a delay going over the Hoover dam (not named after J Edgar Hoover as I had always thought) as the Yanks are jittery that Muslims are going to blow it up and flood the S West. So took a good half hour to get across. Mind you there were 7 mile queues the other way so we got off lightly.
As we descended from the mountains, Vegas appeared some 18 miles in the distance. We could see our hotel, the Stratosphere, easily.
Checked in OK and walked past banks and banks of slots to get to our room. Not long after we headed for the pool but spoilt by very loud Drum n Bass music from the DJ.
In evening headed down the Strip and had dinner at the Harley Davidson Cafe where I got ripped off on the beer ($10.50 including a souvenir lass which I didn't even ask for).
Got monorail back to hotel, dumped kids in room so me and H could have a drink downstairs and play some slots.
Not sure about Vegas - reminds me of a cross between 20 odd Trafford Centres and Blackpool, and seeing as I hate both these places Vegas is lost on me. Me and H both agree that we would never come back. Siby wants to howwver when she is over 21.

Great blog PAB. Confirmed my ownpre-conceived prejudices about Vegas, think I'll give it a miss when I finally manage to get to America.
