Cowell
(19-21 January 2009)

We were happy when we arrived at the Caravan Park in Cowell in the middle of the day, to find that it had a swimming pool as it was a hot day.  We left late at the camp spot as we knew it was only 24kms from Port Gibbon.  We had a half hour swim, quickly got dressed and headed into town to the hotel for a beaut lunch of fresh flathead fillets and chicken snitchel.  The kids loved the hotel, not having been to one in Perth that was suitable to take them for a reasonably cost breakfast.  We found in Perth everything was at Restaurant prices, as they did not have poker machines to prop up their revenue, to keep them going.

Greg and Liam set off on their Fishing Trip the next morning early at 6.30am.  They experienced calm waters until they got to their first destination at 7.30am and then strong winds picked up and it got quite rough.  Two children who were also on the trip were vomiting, but Liam stood strong.  They did not get fish at the first ship wreck they stopped at, as it was thought there were great white sharks there scaring the snapper away.  On the first few throw outs the line snapped straight away, rigs and all.

They headed back to Cowell in rough seas, and managed to get some small snapper on the way and arrived back for lunch.  Both were tired after their trip and a little disappointed.
