BARN HILL STATION
(24-26 October 2006)
This place is on the cover of the Camps 3 book, so we thought gosh it must be a nice place to go. It is more of a photographers dream because it is like the sand meets the desert. The caretaker informs us that he is looking after the place for nine weeks and then moving on, it would be about the end of the season for them at that point. It does have a lovely beach area that you can walk down to. It is hot here and there are restrictions on power supply, so you cannot use your air conditioner, electric jug, frypan, basically lights only. After two days this can be too much in the heat and we yearn for a place where we have power connected or we can use our own generator, as this place also does not allow your own generators. Greg tests out his fishing rod, hoping for a feed of fish, but lucks out here. The fellow campers are very friendly here, they organize 5.00pm beverages at a meeting place and BBQ nights and Sunday Roast nights. It appears to be a fun place to stay. There was only around another 5-7 campers here, so you can see it starts to taper out a bit.
