Where I stayed
We've done it. We knew we would. We've bought the beast.
We needed to go to the hire place today to ask whether we could extend the hire - due back on Wednesday, so we would have to super rush everything to do it all in that time. Anyway, we decided to be logical: a week's hire is about $600, so we decided that for only 2weeks worth of hire, we could buy the car off him. And so, for $1100 which is about 500quid, we now own a car, which we can take back to Australia, which we hope we can sell at the end to make a profit, because I think Thom is skilled in that part of life. He's not sure of his own skills, but I know he's brilliant at flogging useless junk to fools, so this should be no different!
The car only cost $50 to register - that means transfer the ownership, and get the 3rd party insurance we need to drive the car. There really is no point getting comprehensive cover - it would cost about 3x the value of the car. We did think it was a good idea, however, to take out the breakdown cover. Not only is it a good thing to have when the car breaks in the middle of Taz, but it's a good USP when we want to sell it.
Going to mod the car a bit tomorrow with ducktape - seal the windows, tape the bumpers properly, replace the wipers etc etc, which should be a lot of fun!
On to more important matters - I won the table tennis in the end 11-8, so I was pretty chuffed, saying as Thom won about the first 10games we played! We grabbed a bite to eat in Launy, then headed down the freeway to Hobbit to catch elves & other funny creatures. During the 200km journey we stopped at a side thing like they have in France, where there are picnic tables & toilets etc because we were hungry. We only had a jar of jam and a bit of bread left with us, so we ripped off some card to use as a plate, and spread the jam with my penknife. Delicious!! Seriously though, it was really tasty.
Arrived in the much busier Hobart at about 5pm, grabbed some T, and got a settled in. The hostel, called The Pickled Frog looks Ok - not as big as Devil's Playground, but it's right in the centre, so that's probably why. But, it does have shops near by, and most importantly cheap interweb, so all is ok! We're pretty knackered now after the F1, early morning and long drive, so I'm probably going to be intellectual and read The Da Vinci Code, and Thom will probably be vulgar and coarse, and read Zoo or some other tastless magazine like Nuts. DISGUSTING!

Re: attention
Max, dear. You don't need to post messages on a public website just to talk to yourself. Like many things, that kind of thing can be left to the confines of your own room... Wink wink say no more.

WHEN YOU HAD THE AUDACITY TO TURN YOUR NOSE UP AT DAD'S OLD ROVER FOR FREE
DON'T YOU BE EXPECTING ANYTHING 'FLASH ' TO DRIVE AROUND IN WHEN YOU COME HOME WHEN I CAN NOW SEE THAT YOUR PRIDE IS NOT AS IMPORTANT AS I ONCE THOUGHT !

Have a good day. Ben of the sears variety.
mother!!!
mother! we have bort this car cos it was a bargain, wer gonna pimp it today, and we rekn wen we come to sell it we could make at least a couple of hundred pounds out of it, it was serviced the week before we hired it, weve taken out a years breakdown recovery anywer in aus, and we have 3rd party insurance, we couldnt get anything else, it cost 2 weeks rental to buy, made sense.
