We got a taxi to the Spirit of Tazmania (the ship to cross over to Taz), and the driver was completely random, who talked to himself constantly about not spilling water on his front seat & how he needed to train for running in the olympics - even though he was 65! He also wanted to take his taxi on board just for a random road-trip at the end. Obviously we were quite pleased to get to the dock & away from this crazy beast!!
The Spirit of Taz: many rules: No taking of shoes, no sleeping in public areas, no closing curtains while docked. We broke them all after 5mins & tried to sleep in the lounge until I plucked up the courage to find out how much it would be for a cabin. Nice Lady at information said it was $250...
Me & Thom were very tired and so considered it & attempted to blag it for free ,using our charm, good looks, wit and basic cheek. It worked. We got an en-suite, port-hole cabin for free!! A great night's sleep without bratty kids running round all the time, apart from at 2:30am when we were woken up by random objects flying through the room because of 50ft waves violently rocking the ship. The captain said they were the biggest waves he's ever sailed through, so that says something!! I, being hard & courageous, slept through it. Thom gripped onto a wall & whimpered (he says he rode it out, but I heard him...)
A good night of blaggage and sleepage we thought, ready for our first day in Tasmania.
