At last... the day has arrived, we're up far too early, no huge surprise there, and we manage to get on the road at exactly the time we intended. Sailed straight through to Gatwick Mail Centre, where we can park our cars (for a small charity donation)... thank you Royal Mail. Out of interest, they have collected over 68,000 since they started doing this some seven or eight years ago. Our cab was there to pick us up just a minute or so after we arrived and after a short trip we were in the Departure Lounge and getting booked in. It couldn’t have been any more trouble free, a good start to our travels for sure.

We didn’t have time to peruse all of the shops, after our "healthy" breakfast, before we were off to Gate 13, not the best number! But we needn’t have worried as we were soon on our Airbus A330 and after a short delay were up, up and away... Ooh, I feel a song coming on, but only the older ones amongst you will know it! In just eight and a half hours time we should be landing in Charlotte for our short stop-over on the way to Orlando.

Now US Airways haven’t been getting overly complimentary reports from Trip Advisor and the likes lately, but I have to say that the plane is very comfortable with ample knee room, the trolley dollies are polite and attentive and we’ve just had the tastiest in-flight meal we’ve ever had in all our flying years!!! So far so good...!!!

Oh, I nearly forgot, those of you who were invited to view this blog may well be wondering as to who the new family member is... well, wait no longer! Check out the photos below and you’ll see him... “Who is it?” I hear you thinking... it’s none other than “FredBear” that’s who, our newest, and smallest, travelling companion....!!! You may be seeing quite a bit of him from now on.

Our brief stop-over in North Carolina seemed to be over in a flash. We barely had time to grab something quick to eat from Burger King before we were taking off for Orlando in our Airbus A321. A much smaller plane for this internal eighty minute flight, but comfortable enough. Apparently it’s still some 78 degrees in Orlando according to the captain... that’ll do for us. When we land it feels every bit of the 78 degrees... hmmm...!!! We’re straight through to baggage pick-up, as we’ve already done our immigration at Charlotte. Next it was down to the car rental and the very nice man there made me upgrade my Mustang convertible to a GT500... yeah baby, yeah...! That’ll be all our spare holiday cash spent on gas then! Will have to have a very light right foot for the next two weeks!

We got to the villa at Hampton Lakes after about 40 minutes... and it’s huge, think we’ll be very comfortable here! Shaun and I do a quick shop for emergency rations at Walmart while the girls check out the pool. Anni had arrived at the villa, via Philadelphia, moments before Shaun and I returned from our hunter gathering expedition...!!!

Finally off to bed at 22:43 US time (03:43 UK time), and it’ll be up real early tomorrow morning to get to our swimming with manatees on the Crystal River with Capt. Mike at 09:00.
