A pretty good night's sleep, but woke quite early, not that it was a problem as there’s so much to see, and so little time! So it was up and out for a nice healthy breakfast... at McDonald’s...!!! While we were in there the low cloud base had cleared and it was now a nice sunny morning, but very humid, and that was how it was to stay all day. From here we walked up Fifth Avenue to Central Park... and it’s huge, had a bit of a wander around the south end of it and then made our way to Bloomingdale's. As soon as we got inside we were 'pounced’ on by an ageing cosmetics assistant and Elaine was press ganged into being ‘overhauled’ by a Clarins sales representative!!! At the end of it all the products the young lady had demonstrated would have cost the thick end of four hundred bucks... so Elaine cleverly made her excuses and we were out of there...!!!

We then headed for The Rockefeller Centre via The Chrysler Building, and started with the Radio City Music Hall Tour. What a theatre, it’s the biggest in the world and is absolutely stunning; the actual auditorium is the width of one block. And we also got to meet one of the Rockette dancers and have our picture taken with her. After the tour it was a quick walk just around the corner to The Rockefeller Centre and a visit to ‘Top of the Rock’ to see the amazing panoramic views from the 67th floor observation deck. The lift goes up to the 65th floor and it takes less than 30 seconds to get there!

After this our sightseeing took a bit of a strange twist... we started to track down all the Payless Shoe stores in the city!!! And it was actually for both of us, not just Elaine this time (remember Florida, those of you who were there?) The good bit about this trek is that it took us past the Empire State Building... wow it’s big!!! We hope to check it out tomorrow, weather permitting. We were getting a bit weary by now as we’d done a fair few miles, so it was back to the hotel to freshen up before dinner.

Our intention was to find a nice bar to eat in, but ended up in TGI Friday on 42nd Street by Grand Central Station. A good call as it turned out, only the Americans know how to cook steaks. On the way back to the hotel we managed to get some night time shots of the Chrysler Building and Grand Central Station together. When we took the photos last night, we hadn’t even noticed the Chrysler Building next to the station, due to the very low cloud base! I also took a detour at the hotel to get a night shot of the ESB.
