After breakfast we're all hand feeding these marvellous birds again out on the balcony of this amazing place, and soon we set off for a walk along one of the many beaches here. It was still a bit chilly when we started out, but it soon warmed up as the sun got higher in the sky. The views here are fantastic, with the big breakers crashing onto the white sand of the beach, you couldn’t wish for a better sight. We walked to the end of the beach and around the headland, where we saw some surfers riding the big waves coming onto the rocks... rather them than me and no mistake...! There were lots of different sea birds here, including Little Pied Cormorants, Sooty Oystercatchers as well as the ever present Silver Gulls, we also spotted a huge Laughing Kookaburra up in an old gum tree as we strolled back along the beach. As we left the beach, we came across some kangaroos sunning themselves and taking things easy by some trees, and they were quite happy for us to go up and stroke them.
It was now getting close to lunch time, so it was all back to the house for the remnants of yesterday’s picnic... yum, yum...!!! John, Elaine and I went out again to check out the nearby lake and a couple more of the beaches to see what we could find. Anthea and Elise stayed behind to relax and, as it turned out, watch videos and eat cookies! More amazing sights awaited us after trekking through the forest to Myrtle Beach. We then walked back through the forest to the next beach around the headland, here John found a dried out Weedy Sea Dragon by the rocks, now you don’t get too many of them at Maldon...!!! Soon it was time to think about food again, so it was back to "Treetops" and we decided to cook and eat in tonight, so John and Elaine went off to forage for tucker! It seemed like ages before the hunter gatherers returned, but the wait was worth it, as they managed to find spit-roast chicken from Woolworths (the Aussie version) and the biggest box of chips I’ve ever seen!!! Lovely place, good food, and good company, what more could you want? After watching a couple of English programmes on Australian TV, it was off to our comfy beds for a good nights rest.
