Another buffet breakfast to start the day, well like I said yesterday, it's rude not to if it’s there...!!! We’re flying back to Sydney just after one o’clock today, so the morning is spent looking around the Todd Mall to see what the shops have to offer. We’d like to find a piece of Aboriginal artwork to take home, to be honest we didn't think too much of this type of art, until that recent tour of the gallery that is. Now we know what these pictures depict and understand their deep Aboriginal meanings, we just had to have an original painting to take home. Thankfully we eventually find one that we all like in the Mbantua Gallery that we visited yesterday. It's a dot painting in oil on canvas and is called "Two Women Dreaming"  by 57 year old artist Marie Abbott (skin name: Nampinjimpa) from Hermannsburg, Northern Territory. It certainly wasn't the cheapest one we saw, but we loved the colours and the story it told, so had to have it. After we finally made our purchase we had to dash back to the hotel to be picked up at 12:10 for our transfer to the airport.
Another straightforward airport experience, The flight seemed to fly by (fly by... get it?) and before we know it we’re coming in to land at Sydney. John is soon there to pick us up and once we eventually managed to locate the car in the car park it was off to Tuggeranong, near Canberra via the M5... and it's an absolute nightmare, for no obvious reason the road is a car park, and for the first hour of the journey we hardly even manage third gear! But once we’ve cleared the problem, it’s plain sailing the rest of the way. After the best part of four hours on the road we arrive at John & Anthea's place, and Anthea had some pizzas on the go when we arrived. Well, they were soon demolished, as we only got a sandwich on the plane, so were quite hungry by then. We all chatted for a while, then it was off to our comfy beds, as it would be an earlyish start in the morning apparently...! Where have you heard that one before...? John has promised us that we'll see lots of different animals at the local wildlife reserves that he's taking us to before breakfast, He's been checking out the best sites over the last couple of weeks to give us the best chance of some interesting sightings.
