it has begun. packing, that is. which means that I'll really be leaving to go back home this Friday. this afternoon has been a process of editting what I think I'll actually need back home vs. everything I brought with me/accumulated. I'd rather not have to pay extra for my baggage if I really don't have to.

what's left is one 2-day trip to the Bay of Islands (I hope.. Paul's car hasn't been doing him any favours lately), and then to seal up my stuffed bags and board my flight back to North America - aka 'the trip back home; pt 1'. I don't see this as turning my back and never returning to this place. that would be unnatural. as of right now, it's "see you later" to this country. and hopefully "be back soon", if I'm lucky.
