Burnett Heads is situated on the Queensland coast about 400 km north of Brisbane on the Coral Coast at the mouth of the Burnett river.
It has a population of about 2000 and is has a small surf beach called Oaks Beach named after the She Oaks that grow in the area.
In the season (from November to March) sea turtles mainly loggerheads nest on this beach and hatch out.
The old lighthouse that was at the entrance to the river has been moved to become a tourist attraction>it has been replaced by a new automated light.
About 1 km up the river is a sugar loading terminal large Bulk sugar ships are seen loading in the seasonThe area around burnett heads grow a lot of sugar cane and there are at least 3 sugar mills in the area. also there is a lot of tomatoes, elons, zuchinies, pumkins, cuecumbers, potatos, and sweet potatoes grown in this area.
