Where I stayed
I make it to the hostel, meet the girl, Emma, who has been organising my Tibet tour and she says the others have gone out for train supplies and that I can use their shower and wait for them.
After having the best shower in the world, it had pressure and heat, which is rare in china – it’s either an extreme of hot/cold with no pressure or too much pressure with cold water – there is fine art to the right mix obviously, I went out to look for my own supplies. This would be nights 3 and 4 on a train and the journey was another 44 hours – great... but after doing the Trans-Mongolian this should be nothing!! Although the altitude may get to me!! I could have flown like Joey and Traci were planning to do but that’s cheating!
After buying some food, drinks and thermals for Tibet and its cold nights, I met up with Anna, Max and Lincoln back at the hostel. We hung around for a bit waiting for our 9pm train and ate some of the free dumplings made by other guests of the Mix hostel and its Friday night dumpling party!
We caught our train, chatted and prepared ourselves mentally for the epic journey ahead lol.
