Miserable weather today. The intention today was to go for a short hike through the New Territories so we woke up early in anticipation of this.  Though after an unproductive start, mainly due to our spirits being damped by the weather, but also talking to the French guy who was waiting to meet someone and doing our best to avoid the Chinese man who wanted us to carry his luggage for him, we eventually made it out.

The rain had eased a bit to begin with, but visibility was still very poor.  We had chosen this specific route cos we had heard it offered impressive views over various coastal bays, villages and piers.  Unfortunately though we could only see mist and fog.  At the beginning it felt like we were hiking for sake of it and not actually getting anything out of it – apart from getting wet, even our umbrellas given to us the previous day were failing a bit.  This got to the point we were debating like an old married couple whether to continue; neither of us were enjoying it really but we were both too stubborn to let it beat us.  We persisted and after about 3 hours of shitty weather, clouds (and obviously our spirits) lifted suddenly.  We had missed the decent coastal views but at least could appreciate some of the hike.

After we had finished the hike, reached the main town and did some food shopping, we headed back to the hostel to cook our dinner and chill out.  Louise cooked an awesome beef, onion and pepper stir fry (I cleared up!) and to celebrate our sort of achievement, we cracked open a bottle of red (the French guy, Matt had joined us at this point) and watched Batman – The Dark Knight.  Not just a great film, it was kind of appropriate as HK features quite heavily in it.
