Big Corn Island is slow languid place, lots of skeletons of former glory, plenty of cement buildings in various  states of decay. Never found out if it was a booming place that was devasted by the hurricane, or a place that they hoped would be booming and built lots of cement hotels with all the character of motel 6,s tiny brother.  All surrounded by a coral reef so that snorkling in the amazing Caribbean sea is like swimming in a fish tank.  Paul says Long Beach is the best beach he{s ever been to (based on beauty, nobody there, the 8 different colours of water in the first 30 yards fringed by coconut palms, great snorkling from shore,  waves to play in, all with a thatch covered empty bar playing Bob Marley half way down the almost deserted beach.
Never heard of Corn Island, used to be called The Skeleton Islands (of buccaneering fame where pirates feared to be shipwrecked because of the fierce natives who liked to eat pirates marinated in coconut oil.
