Having decided to skip Honduras for this trip, due to lack of time and everyone we have talked to have loved Nicaragua so much, we opted for the fast express bus from Guatamala City to Nicaragua via El Salvador.  A big luxury ´´Tica Bus¨ left Guatamala City at 2 pm (one hour late) and we zipped accross more rolling green farmland through Southern Guatamala to the border, we were stamped out of Guatamala, crossed the border (a river) this time a bridge had been thoughtfully provided.

On the El Salvador side, immigration got on the bus and inspected everyone´s passports, faces, clothes, body odour, etc. but didn´t bother to stamp passports, which seemed odd.  By this time it was dark, we were entertained by two Hollywood movies, the first and action movie dubbed in Spanish were the plot was irrelevant, the second was in English with Spanish subtitles.  It was a romatic tradjedy that was so bad, Zakk said he wished it was in Spanish.

Arrived in San Salvador in the rain at night, not a great City to be wandering about in at night with backpacks!  Got a Taxi to an inexpensive hotel with a padlocked gate and ate next door in a small diner with a streetside table (although we were separated from the actual street by a welded steel steel gate bolted and padlocked!  The the food was good though, and dinner cost $3 each including beers, so could´t complain.

The next day we decided to see the sites of San Salvador, there were none.  Central San Salvador is like Central LA without the charm.  Great place to be if you are a connoisure of grafetti (gang tags) but otherwise ....

We went to the express bus station, the next bus to Managua left at 1 pm that day.  We bought our tickets.
