Yesterday we planned to join the free walking tour. Unfortunately we arrived a little too late. We thought it would be best to go on the hop on hop off sightseeing bus but turns out its a bit of a rip off as you could quite possibly walk the route in an hour or so.

We first went to St. Basil's cathedral, the inside of the cathedral was incredible and very unexpected. It was much smaller than we had imagined but still definitely worth seeing. Then we hopped on the bus to the Kremlin. We bought our tickets not really knowing what we were able to see inside, we then gave our rucksacks in for security purposes as told by a random lady in the street. We had to go through security before entering the Kremlin and after entering, it seemed as though half of the place was closed for some reason. We got told off twice for trying to cross one of the roads in the Kremlin. We took a look inside two of the cathedrals inside the walls of the Kremlin, we saw a massive cannon and a bell from Ivan's bell tower. After wandering around inside, we had to leave before 3pm because the whole place was closing.

We went to a canteen style place for lunch, which overlooks Alexander Garden. We couldn't have chosen a better time or place to grab lunch. As soon as we had sat down, a ceremony began inside the gardens. We had no idea what it was for, but it involved a lot of marching soldiers and a big band. The press were everywhere too. It turned out that Vladimir Putin, Russia's president, was meeting the newly elected Chinese president for the first time. They put on quite an elaborate ceremony for it.

We returned to the tour bus to complete the tour route. During that time, we decided that we both wanted to buy a Russian hat. So we did just that. With our new hats on, we got carried away with taking crazy photos outside Saint Basil's Cathedral.

We found a supermarket to buy supplies for our 4 day train journey and spent the evening cooking in a cramped hostel kitchen. Woo Friday night in Moscow!!!!

Right now, we are waiting for our clothes to dry, so we can pack and go catch our train. This hostel has the world's worst dryer.

This blog post will be the last for a while. The train has no wi-fi, of course, and we are not sure if our next destination will have wi-fi either. Until we find Internet again...goodbye.
