Might seem a bit strange putting in an entry for Xmas and New Year, but given that we're in a Muslim country and traditional xmas fayre is a bit thin on the ground we thought the effort we put in was worth recording......
Step 1: Make sure that anything you can't get locally is brough out courtesy of anyone you know flying out from the UK in the run up to the event.
Step 2: Take a day trip to Sharm and buy xmas presents, trying to be more original than buying anything to do with diving - which is quite difficult here given that that's all you cna buy except for tacky tourist tat.
Step 3: while in Sharm, go to KFC, Hard Rock Cafe and sink a few Long Island Ice Teas.
Step 4: buy the presents, then go food shopping.
Step 5: purchase, believe it or not, brussels sprouts and smoked salmon!! I still can't believe that a found those.
Step 6: Make sure that Adel has definately ordered the turkey from Gazala's supermarket.
Step 7: agree who's all making what for the day. Turkey Sophie and Adel, Veg and Roasters Sophia and Paul, us - smoked salmon starters, home made christmas cake with dashings and dashings of whiskey, and home made profiteroles from Claire.
Step 8: agree to have the dinner at Sophie and Adels. (note: has anyone invited Jason yet)
Step 9: embark on a spree of xmas card and cracker making, fuelled by much mulled wine, G&T and more wine, adorned with Santa Hats.
Step 10: have dinner, feeling more than a little hungover from the party in The Furry Cup, also with Johnny and Fiona who came over from London.
Step 11: eat and drink more than you need to, and then stop at 15:00GMT to watch the Queens Speech!
Step: Head out to local bar again, after sending home a traditional xmas message via video......
Very memorable indeed!!!!!!
29th Dec - Andy Birthday boy (38!!)
Used xmas cake as cake, with candles from Gazalas, I think only an 8 survived the decorating (no 3 available). Fab pressies, and home made card :-), plus friends round for drinks and chat.
31st Dec - more drink, took in Bells in Blue Beach, and then on to Rush and Totas.....early bath at around 2 with remaing parties pretty poor.
1st Jan 2006 - the dawn of a new year. Back again to Blue Beach for lunch/dinner, together with many more refreshments, listening to Ron the Jukebox Guy in the background. :-)
Still not sure where we're going next!!!!!
