Not had too much time to keep our journal up to date since the last entry!!!! Been too busy working, having good times and entertaining welcome vistors from home.
In October we had Jim and Loretta out for 10 days for a wee bit of chill out fun - including some diving, many G&Ts, horse riding, and even an overnight stay via camel down at Gabr El Bint, south of Dahab and courtesy of Juma.
We then had Joyce over in November for ten days. Totally for relaxation purposes this time again, although the supply of duty free brough in from the airport and the wine stashed away in the luggage took a fair dent. No diving this time, as work still on the go.
End Nov - time for the Instructors Development Course to start, 10 days of full on shovel PADI down your throat! Not a great experience as the course doesn't actually teach you anything to do with the practicalities of teaching people how to dive. The course itself isn't difficult it's just being able to swallow the vision of what PADI USA think that the teaching dive professionals happens in the real world - needless to say the reality is far from the truth!
On the course we've got me, Sadie, Ben, Matt, Charlie and Jo, and being taught by Ed, with Farmer and Sophia doing the Staff Instructor bits.
At the end of the 10 days we have the Instructors Exam - comprising, presentations, exams on dive theory and PADI standards, as well as Rescue evaluations, plus confined and open water skills and teaching evaluations.
WE'VE ALL PASSED!!!!!!!! Great way to end 2005 and at least we've now accomplished what we set out to do.
Thoughts now turing to what to do next.......
Lots of friends now heading off now.......Keith and Fiona back to Scotland in Oct, ScubaSteve and Karl independently to Thailand in October, Campbell off to UK then NZ in November, Ben off to UK then back to Honduras, Deano off to the UK, Toyah and John also Thailand, and lastly Claire packing it all in and back to UK in Jan. We're now the last of the original group, with also a lot of full timers now going too.
Time to think more thoroughly about where next.....
Q. Mexico, Thailand, Honduras, Belize, Dutch Antilles......the search continues....
