Wow, big step finally taken. Resigned from jobs in the UK, rented out the flats, packed our rucksacks, dive bag and laptop and off to sunnier climes.

A wee bit strange heading back to Dahab again. It hasn't changed that much since we were last here, a few more restaurants and more hotels on the way, but still retains the easy lifestyle charm and relaxed atmosphere. Good to see that some of the people we met first time around are still here - Dean, Spence, Abel, Sophie, Tim, Juma, and a few others at Poseidon. The dive centre has changed at bit too, more space, plus more emphasis on Tec diving and bigger groups coming in from the UK. A lot of forces resettlement work too.

Have started the process of getting through the diving training plus settling into a normal life here in Dahab!!

First start is to get somewhere to live. Managed to get a contact though a couple of places, and have seen a few houses ranging from what we now know to be a bit of luxury, and those which had no furniture, doors or windows - we know it's hot here but come on!!

Now got somewhere, for the princely some of 1500LE per month, plus 200LE for a phone line to give us access to the internet from home - luxury here in Dahab. We have a 2 bed house in its own space, with running water, windows, fly screens, doors, kitchen/diner/sitting room, plus shower/toilet. Also comes with electricity, when it works, gas cooker, fridge/freezer - essential for keeping the beer warm :-)

Training has now started and we're now well into EFR, Rescue Diver, and Divemaster internships. A really good croud here too training with us - ScubaStephanie (aka Steve), Karl, Fiona and Keith, CampieB, Anna and Caroline from Switzerland. Great fun most of the time with most of the good times courtesy of ScubaSteve being on the receiving end of beastings from his instructor Sophia.

End Sept - everyone all successfully passed through the DM internship. Many Snorkel tests captured on film to keep for posterity.

Trying to get work now. Still some going around even though it's nearing the end of the season. Poseidon, Red Sea Relax, Big Blue and Fantasea now featuring on the employment list. Wages are abmismal compared to the UK, but you have to bear in mind that it's all relative! However 8Eu (£5) per guided dive is still shit. Nevermind, at this stage it's all about the experience and obtaining as much knowledge as possible about the industry and most importantly where to go next!!
