In the world of diving, "macro" refers to small marine life. Some are visible by naked eye, some are so small and so well camouflaged that it requires flashlight or magnifying glass/zoom lens to see!
Anilao was a heaven for macro lovers.
I saw so many animals and critters that I had never seen before. There were TINY shrimp hidden in anemones and whip corals. There were striped crabs that blended with black and white Crinoids. There was one decorator crab that looked like an alien and I could have stared at it for hours, it was so funny looking!!!

I met up with J, who I met in June in Malaysia. J an I dived together for 3 days and we continued to stay in touch, and eventually planned this reunion to dive together again. He brought his friend B and the three of us had an incredible time! Since we were all experienced divers, we were able to dive for about 80-90 minutes per dive (average is about 45-50 min). Since J is already an underwater photographer and B is a videographer, I was able to learn so much about camera settings and how to best capture underwater life. It was a tremendous help diving with them.
Also, since J and B have much more advanced equipment than my canon point and shoot, their pics and videos were absolutely incredible. They looked like something out of a national geographic magazine/channel. The video (with massive zoom power) captured so many fascinating movements and gestures that we could not see with our eyes. At the end of the day, we would sit with our drinks and compare video/pics- it was an absolute blast!

We began our day with 7am breakfast, and returned from our dives around 10pm. We ran to shower, ate dinner, reviewed our best shots and slept. It was an exhausting and cold 7 days but I couldn't have asked for better diving and company :)
And I am happy to share some of my proud underwater photos from Anilao!
