Thank you for all the well wishes!
I am back.
The antibiotics and the 7-day rest I took from work recovered me well. I can't believe a whole week passed by, with me mostly lying in bed, sleeping, streaming movies on Amazon and reading a new book by Khaled Hossein (fantastic book!). Ok...I did also sit on my porch and stared at the palm tree for a couple of hours.
But I miss the ocean. I'm so ready to get back to work :)
I'm also very grateful for Jo, who checked in with me every few hours, brought me juice everyday, took me to a doctor and kept me smiling/laughing through this ordeal. She has become a good friend.

Yesterday, when I was lying in bed on my back, a baby gekko (lizard) fell from the ceiling and landed on my chest. There was a momentary shock, but I laughed realizing how far removed I've become from my "past" life. In NYC I used to be quite OCD when it came to using antibacterial soap to wash my hands every few hours. I used to change clothes as soon as I got home because I couldn't stand the germs from the subways and pollution of the streets. I never went on my bed with my street clothes. My clothes went into a laundry hamper after being worn for a day.

These days, I walk barefoot in the streets. Ants crawl on the floor of my room. My bed sheet is covered in beach sand. I wear dirty clothes all the time, and wash after a minimum of 3 usages ;) (mainly because I hand wash my clothes and don't have the time to wash after each use). Flies roam everywhere as we eat our meals. Some meals, I eat with my bare hands.
I sleep with my door open.
I only have cold shower - I usually have to time my shower prior to sunset so I don't freeze while showering ;)
This is island living.
And I love this life.

Yesterday I was so bored, Jo and I decided to hop on a bike and take a trip around the island.
I hope you can see my love for this island.
