Generally, I have a stomach of steel. I can pretty much eat anything and everything. I had not been too concerned about the food "situation" in SE Asia...that is, until last night.
For 2 days, I had been feeling like crap, with a bit of a scratchy throat and feeling lethargic. I thought maybe I was coming down with a cold so I started loading up on Advil and Airborne. Didn't help. Then last night, I started feeling stomach cramps and feeling chills. By the time I went to bed, I was wearing all of my long sleeve shirts and pants, and borrowed Luis's jacket to cover over me. I was freezing in a 80 degree weather. A few hours later, I woke up drenched in sweat. I was HOT. I stripped all my clothes and by then my stomach was in so much pain I took my first dose of Cipro (anti-diarrhea). Thank goodness I came prepared with all the drugs! By the time the morning came around I had lost count of how many times I had ran to the bathroom. Last night was quite ugly. I hadn't felt that sick or that much pain in a very long time.
I am much better today (don't worry mom!).

Looking back at the potential causes, It was definitely the sunny-side eggs I had for breakfast! I had forgotten all the warnings I had received about eating ONLY fully cooked food in SE Asia. I also took for granted that I am never affected from eating any kind of food. A hard lesson learned. I have to be more careful in the future.

Today we decided to take a day off to bum around and do our laundry (yes mom, I hand washed all my clothes and you would be very proud!). We got very lucky with a gorgeous sunny day to swim in a crystal clear water and lay on the beach. This was a very nice reward for what I suffered through last night!!
