"I lift my eyes to the mountains---where does my help come from?  My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth."
                                            -Psalm 121:1-2 (NIV)

Before breakfast we boarded the bus to go into the park. We walked the Pa Rus Trail as the sun was coming up. It was a lovely, easy walk through amazing and majestic surroundings!  I was so proud I could actually identify some structures after having studied an interpretive sign at the Visitor Center the day before. Got to show off a bit for David!  (Alas, if only I could name them now as I look at photos a year later!) We returned with healthy appetites to the lodge for  breakfast.

Then, back onto the bus and back to the park, where we began our hike on the River Walk to the Narrows. The scenery was mind-boggling with huge cliffs towering on both sides of the Virgin River and path, almost dizzying looking up. Amazing vistas, one after another. Along the path, we viewed the hanging gardens, plants growing out of the rocks, including some wildflowers.

Several rock squirrels were spotted, SO NOT afraid of people.

It was a little disappointing to not go into the Narrows where you have to wade in the river but the river was higher and more treacherous than normal so it would have been dangerous.

After the river hike, we enjoyed a picnic lunch at The Grotto area. As we were eating, a gray fox came to visit.

After lunch we hiked to the Emerald Pools. It was a fairly challenging walk, at least for us.
Just as we returned it started to rain so we got some soft serve ice cream and hung out at the lodge.
