We arrived midafternoon at Port of the Islands Resort, not a difficult drive from Orlando but not a short one. My biggest complaint: no Cracker Barrels when you're not on the interstate! 


The resort is attractive enough but seemingly in the middle of nowhere. We checked in quickly and easily and found our room on the second floor, with no elevator---not our favorite situation.


Two of our closest friends were joining us for this Road Scholar program---The Secret Life of the Everglades, #1315KZE.  All four of us had visited the Everglades before but like I always say, "If you haven't done a place with Road Scholar, you haven't really DONE it!" John and I were so looking forward to this adventure with such good friends!
