After I got the Chinise visa, I have exactly one empty page left in my passport! I have one last shot left. After, I will only be able to travel to countries that do not require visas. It is a big problem. I have to make an executive decision. What would it be - Laos, Cambodia, or Bolivia.... I decide to overland it to China through Laos and jump on an overnight train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai.

I spend two days in Chiang Mai, instead of the planned one, mostly because I'm too hang overed to continue the next day. I'd met this gall Kossita on the train. She is local and she seems to know all the hot spots in town. We end up drinking beer and complaining about man until the wee hours. Turns out, man in Thailand are the same. No same same, but different. Just same. What a revelation.

Just when I think nothing new will come out of our bar crawl, Kosita tells me that the girl sitting next to us has had a nose job...to make her nose bigger. What?! - I wail in disbelieve. This is the craziest thing I've heard. So many people have their nose reduced, but I've never heard of anyone having an operation to increase their nose. It is common in Thailand, Kossita says. Thai like big nose. Didn't I notice so many Thai guys giving me the look tonight? Like the guy who gave you the jasmine necklace. He told me that he loves your nose, Kossita teases. Geee, now I understand why the attention.

While still on the subject of man, and what pleases them, I decide to get some competitive edge on the marriage market and get some marketable skills. I have the choice between a course in Thai Massage and Thai cooking. I consider. It is the Thai cooking at the end. I always get bad reviews on my cooking, while no one ever complained about a massage ...
