Early start a little after 7am this morning to head for the Cu Chi Tunnels and Tay Ninh; the birthplace of Cao Dai religion (a fusion of Buddhism,Islam,Taoism,Confucianism,Christianity and native Vietnamese beliefs). Another long ride and a most bumpy road to to the tunnels, but arrived early before all the tour buses arrived. We spend an hour walking around and learning about the tunnel systems and all the bobby-traps that were set in the jungle. I would have never wanted to step foot in the jungle again if I ever saw someone get into one during war time..that was the whole reason for most of them..being psychological warfare..I went through one of the tunnels which was about 1000 yards long and by the time I got out my knees were killing me from crouching for so long.

Next we headed to Tay Ninh which was another hour and 35 minutes away and mainly bad roads. Once we arrived we saw the great Cao Dai Temple. We spent the next half hour taking photos from the outside and waiting for the daily prayer session to start at noon. The session lated an hour, but only stayed for half of it..took alot of video and photographs of the ceremony. Was very colorful inside....some of it though looked like Liberace on meds...but makes for colorful photos anyway.

Lunch was just down the street from the temple where I had shrimp, vegetables and rice while Carol had the noodles with beef mixed in. After lunch was over I saw some children playing nearby and handed out pens to them for which they jumped around alot after receiving. I meant to give them to a school in Cambodia, but never had the chance.

Two hours later we were back in Saigon and stopped at the large market so Carol could find her pendant and I could find some Scorpion maybe. Well we got the pendant, but never found anything exotic to eat...I guess I would have had better luck in Hanoi. Now I'm just typing this out watching all the traffic from high above and taking all the sights and sounds of my last night in Vietnam
