We are now in crazy Saigon. The trip was very short form Siem Reap on Vietnam Airlines..The airport here has just been redone..so it looks very modern...Once we met up with our driver, we headed to the car and battled the traffic for 45 minutes for an 8 km ride. Motorcycles are everywhere..4 million in all for the city..It seemed like they were all on our road.

We finally arrived at our hotel; The Equitorial..a very nice hotel but a little outside the main area of the city. We checked in, dropped our bags and took the free shuttle into downtown. It was getting late, but needed to get our feet wet for the city. We were dropped off just east of the Notre Dame Cathedral and we walked around the streets and nearby shopping mall. There we picked up some bottled water and a fake Hard Rock Cafe Saigon t-shirt for our troubles. I wish the real s-shirts were only 2 dollars, the large bottles of water ran us a whole 65 cents.
We went and had drinks to kill the next half hour before the shuttle was due to pick us up, then we headed down to the drop off point 10 minutes early...I looked down the road and thought I saw our van, but it couldn't be we were here early...well it was since we waited for the next 25 minutes with no van..We had to grab a taxi back and chew on the driver at the hotel for not waiting. No real big deal, but 7:35 should mean that and not 7:23!
We had dinner at the hotel where I had Pho, and Carol had the Malaysian Satay. Both were good, but nothing memorable. It was time now to rest up for the Mekong Delta tour we have the next morning and charge all the camera batteries.
