Perpignan - beginning of the french riviera

Perpignan was a huge, regal looking city. really quiet and spread out, Sunday calm.
The road out of La Jonquera is up up uphill, through the very tippy edge of the Pyrenees, across the border and into France. At last- our tour de Espana was finished. We had traversed the country once from North to South, and then partially along itsīSouthern coast heading east. Whooowheeeee. The Pyrenees at this border point are really minimal, but it was exciting to ride over them nonetheless. La Boulee is the French border village, really quaint and sweet. Crossing the border at a steep incline, pedaling uphill, we faced a traffic jam of cars entering Espana the other direction. Since they were all facing us as we climbed, there was a lot of funny cheering and support. We felt like we were in the tour...
