Hello all, it's one more day at sea and then it's home to Calgary, not that we're too excited ...hurrah! Yesterday we were in San Diego, arriving around noon, and because this is our first port into the U.S. we had to have a face to face with Immigration officials ...fortunately it was well organized and we were off to our excursion by 2p.m. We boarded a bus and our first stop was La Jolla where we saw the beautiful homes, stinky shore with cormorants, sea lions and seals all making their own special noise. I gather from our tour guide the odour is a bone of contention with the residents, not that they can do anything about it! From there we travelled to Old Town and walked the area, and then on to Balboa Park and Coronado. We were finally back on board by 6:30.
Our docking  location was very close to a marine base and there were helicopter manoeuvres ongoing. Apparently the NAVY Seals train here also.
Our temperature was a cool 66F in comparison to the high 90s we experienced in our more southern latitudes.
We really enjoyed seeing more of the city and although we had shopping time, we were shopped out.
The previous evening we attended the Crew Capers, a show put on by the crew and it was very entertaining. Pictures included. Our Captain also shared some insights to our cruise in terms of 11,000 bottles of wine consumed, over 1,000 bottles of liquor, 12,000 bottles of beer and a lot of pop.
So it's home tomorrow, and we are happy to be heading home. It seems to have been a long time, but an excellent experience.
I will add more pictures later as Internet connections allow
