We stayed for just one night in a creaky little hotel in Berlin. The city is full of history. I wanted to definitely see the Brandenburg Gate, go to the museum island and visit one or two of those, and maybe see Checkpoint Charlie or the remnants of the wall. But it was cold and rainy, and I guess the only thing my mom and Soph wanted to do was go to the zoo (isn't that kind of the worst thing you can do when it's raining anyways?). I couldn't convince them to even just take a subway and see the gate. It was a pretty cool zoo though. There was an awesome playground that I would've definitely went in if it weren't for the rain. I can be a kid sometimes! When we went into the big cat house, a lion started roaring. Two others eventually joined it so it became like a symphony. The lions had chunks of raw meat lying around in their small enclosures, but it looked like they wanted us. Their intense stares (slightly murderous, if you ask me) were a bit nerve-wracking. The roars vibrated in my stomach and seemed to shake the whole room.
Another highlight was a nocturnal animal area. The adorable creatures had eyes that dominated their tiny faces.
