On one of our days in Rome we went to the Vatican City. It is the single smallest country of the world, and they have their own passports and mail systems. It is pretty much the country of Christianity. When we went there the Pope was speaking. He was the new one from Argentina, and there were huge crowds of people that came to see him. We watched for a bit, but he was speaking in Italian. We left to see the Vatican muesums. Since most people were watching the Pope, the museums were probably less crowded than they would normally be. They held tons of religious artwork from many different famous painters, the most famous probably being Michelangelo. We got to see the Sistine Chapel, painted by Michelangelo. It was amazing. He was an unbelievable artist. When we left, all of the artwork after it looked lifeless. Nothing seemed that good compared to the Chapel. We also saw St. Peter's Basilica. It had tons of crypts underneath it, and the tomb of St. Peter which gives it its name.
