We weren't planning on doing an excursion in Punta Arenas. But when we got into town, we decided to do a seperate tour. There were 9 people, and we each payed $25 (instead of the $175 for a ship excursion). That was a pretty good deal. We got to see Magellanic penguins, which look a lot like African penguins. We also stopped at a cementary, and an overlook of the city. I got to see from above how colorful all the rooftops were. On the way to seeing the penguins, we saw a llama-like animal. I forgot the name, but it was something that lives in the wild there. There were also emu-like animals. On the way back from seeing the penguins, there was a car blocking the gravel road. It was on fire! We don't know how it happened, but when we got there the entire car was burnt to a crisp. The terrible smell of burning rubber was in the air. No one was hurt, thankfully. I think the car was a tour vehicle, and the people were from our cruise.
