After 6 days on the road, we finally reached our destination on this past wednesday! Our home base is called Masumbo, and the campus is over 100 acres of pure beauty. The students share "bandas," or little teeny houses, with one other roommate. Most of the students are from Houghton, but a few are from Wheaton College in Illinois and Westmont College in California. Altogether, I really like the whole crew :)

Right now, I am writing from a gorgeous balcony in an internet cafe in Iringa Town, a city that is around 25 minutes from campus. There is a cat meowing a few tables over, adding a funny commentary to the environment. The elevation on campus is at least 5000 feet, and we climbed pretty high to get to the town, so I imagine we must be even higher... it certainly makes running and playing soccer a bit more difficult, but the cooler temperatures and more moderate humidity make it all worth it!

Honestly, this post is to let you all know that I am alive and well. I managed to sleep through the whole night for the first time since departure! A pretty good feat for an 8 hour time difference :)

I am hoping and planning to write more - more than just descriptions of my life at least! But alas, time is running a little too short today. We should have a schedule down by next week, so more entries will follow!
