Everything has come to an end, also the good time of holiday in North America. We had a wonderful time in Florida, than a great time in Maine, Quispasmis and Prince Edward Island, but we also had to go back. So we stayed one more night with Marc and Ellen in Quispasmis and had a great time reflecting on life, future, wine and salami. It was really great.

On Saturday we drove off to Bangor in Maine for our flight to Philladelphia and than Amsterdam. Although we had calculated enough time for this journey, getting there proved to be a challenge. Because we had to cross the border from Canada to the US. And the waiting already took about an 30 minutes, and than it should have been a formality.

We brought a bag of sand from the beach in PEI. That was one, but Margriet was given a sprout of a Mopane, Turpentine Tree (Colophospermum mopane) with leaves like a butterfly and some leaves, along with seeds of the anise plant (all from Florida). And we had a banana, three apples... and something that looked a lot like a Cuban cigar. Well...

Don't do that on the US border, because you'll be searched... car upside down, many questions, all in all the people were quite friendly in the end, but we could only bring the sand over the border, the rest was destroyed... The whole exercise costed us about 1,5 hours, so after that we speeded on the road from Calais to Bangor.

The normal speed there would be around 55 miles per hour, we did an average of around 70. So we came in time in Bangor, returned the rental car, had to repack all the mess that the border people made, and could basically go straight to the plane.
