Show trip route
We were up and out by 10, having paid our bills and checked out. We strolled into the new town and ended up walking around for 3 hours, reaching the jungle beach (kind of by fluke) that all tuk tuk drivers offered to take us to. The Wijaya beach bar Ines recommended to me was nowhere to be found on our expedition so we headed back to the fort. For lunch we went to Allora where I converted Sam into a veg pizza lover. It always has way more ingredients and flavour.
We were done by 2:30, just in time to get a front row seat for Daniel Ricciardo to put on a show in his F1 car in front of the fort. In reality we waited for 2 hours just for him to turn up, and when he did it rained so we sacked it off.
After deciding to leave we said by to the cricket boys and headed for the bus station where we jumped on a 60p bus to Mirissa beach. The bus took about 30 mins of which about 25 I spent chatting to a local who struggles with English. Great fun. We arrived at around 19:00 and checked into Ayodhya 'resort & spa' after our tuk tuk driver drove 5 seconds into the car park. It was still pouring with rain, the room was spacious and cheaper than all the ones in the Lonely Planet so we couldn't say no.
For dinner I had a vegetable kottu which is loads of finely (very) chopped veg and salad with also very finely chopped pancake ish tasting and looking thing. Very filling and very cheap at 170 rupees!
