My second weekend in Boston was possibly even more rewarding than the first, but in a more sedate and personal way. More talk, fewer pictures - in short, the perfect bookend to the trip.
After enjoying a tasty chicken dinner that Aunt Suzi and Uncle Dave whipped up, Sara and I tracked down a T and headed into town. Michael and other members of the BC GSA had staked out some space in view of the Parkman Bandstand where the Commonwealth Shakespeare Company was preparing for curtain call on one of their last summer performances of A Midsummer Night's Dream.
While we only had the chance to exchange a handful of words, the GSA members were all immediately welcoming as we latecomers settled in on the blanket they'd staked out.
The vast majority of the evening was (well!) spent on the play. As usual, Robin Goodfellow stole much of the show; but the fellow who played both Oberon AND Theseus had a delightfully dominant presense on the small stage. The trick of having one pair of actors play both the mortal and fairie royalty created need for a little extra costume changing time, which the company used to chowcase some nice choreography. What more could I possibly say?
Afterwards we helped Deb (I believe) pack up the fixings she'd apparently brought and retired back to the condo for another one the delightfully rambling, wee-hour conversations that had already become habitual in the first week of the trip.
The rest of the weekend was evenly split between work and more memorable fellowship. It was hard to leave on Monday; but the experience was well worth the seperation pains. My newly found friends and rediscovered family have already enriched my life considerably
