Where I stayed
OK, so another couple of flights and I arrived in Salvador. Itīs even hotter than Brasilia or at least it feels it but at least Salvador is on the coast so I hit the beach!
The beach experience:
I have never seen so many fit bodies in my life before ... itīs like every guy goes to the gym everyday or something! Very toned, defined and muscular - it is a pleasure to people watch, let me tell you - all hail the speedos! ;)
Ok, enough of the cheekiness! The downfall is that exactly the opposite happens aswell. So, every few seconds some guy comes up to you telling you how beautiful you are and asking for a kiss - can you believe the audacity of it - no shame
Having met some cool people in the hostel, we made our way to "Pelo" (nicknamed Pelo by residents), the historic centre for some sightseeing. Really, there wasnīt all that much to visit but the streets were pretty cool, with colorful colonial buildings and cobblestoned streets and there are several blocks around the triangular Largo to walk around. Pelo is really the location for music, dining and nightlife.
To get to Pelo, you have to take a lift, which costs only like R$0.15 as Pelo is part of the upper city. Basically you have the Mercado Modelo (a really cool market where you can buy sarongs, jewellery, clothes and traditional stuff) on the coast at the bottom of the lift and then the rest of the sights at the top.
And as for carnival, well thatīs a whole new chapter Iīll have to write another time!
Oh, I almost forgot ... Iīm having difficulties downloading the photos from my camera (I need a new SD card), so no pics right now, but as soon as I get them off, Iīll add them to this post.
