Here's the scoop! Idiot here cocked up the dates. Our flights were originally on the night of the 22nd connecting with the second on the 23rd arriving in Cairns. Stupidly I had in my head that we flew on the 23rd. So we arrived back from the Gili's a few hours before our flight and only realized that we had missed them both the next morning when we should have been getting off in Cairns. I hope your not confused now either.

Now the rat race started. We tore up and down Poppies Gang II for about six hours between internet  places and travel agencies. We had to contact Trailfinders back home who were all tucked up asleep in bed at this time. So night staff helped us out for the mean time and told us to get onto Qantas to make sure all of our flights weren't cancelled. While thinking our flights were lost and that we'd have to pay heaps to get to Cairns we were now thinking the worst. We soon started contemplating cutting short our trip once we saw prices of $2000 per person come up on the screen. Fortunately we went to the local agencies and got a price of $600 each. Still a lot but at least the number was going in the right direction. We priced another place in front of a massage parlour and the girl their named Iluh worked here magic. She tried our luck and rang up Qantas to rebook us on the next available flight. To her credit and our amazement she pulled it off and we were back on our flights for only $100 each. What a legend!! She had saved us a crippling blow of up to $500 each so we tipped her 150,000 rp (a tenor to you and I), which she was over the moon with. That was a lot of money in Indonesia. Later after speaking to Trailfinders we were advised to NOT book with a local agency and get onto Qantas ourselves directly and make sure all our other flights were still on the system as missing one causes a domino effect. The other key thing was that when we re-booked our flight that they were booked using our old Qantas reference number otherwise again they would have been lost. Off we rushed back to Iluh thinking she messed up to be interrupted by her and explained that she had already done it with the correct reference number. Again a legend!! Iluh this young girl working at a little travel agency in front of a massage parlour done something that a huge worldwide multi-million company couldn't. She saved our skin!

Fortunately Meals didn't crumble like before in Manila too much. She got angry and we sorted all out as soon as possible. We both did fear for the rest of our travels and thought about bringing forward the date to go home. After all the panic we indulged once more in some shopping. I stocked up on some more beer shorts and singlets (vests) and meals stocked up on everything as always. We are leaving for the airport in a few hours and hopefully we have the right dates this time. Anyway I blame Meal for not double checking!! :)
