Day 21
We were sad to leave this morning as without a doubt this was a serious highlight of the trip. I find i'm saying this each time. We are off to Bryce Canyon today and have decided to stop for lunch at Lake Powell as its half way. Lake Powell is one of the biggest artificial lakes in the USA and is surrounded by desert.
We had a yummy lunch at the Lake Powell resort and were a little jealous of the few minutes of luxury that we had and saw around us! We then drove onto the beach, shoved on our UV suits and ran down to the beach. It was a boiling day and the lake was really quite warm...in fact so much so that even I went in the water! Yes thats me swimming twice in three weeks! Got to be a record! Even Chloe went in. To start with she wasn't totally sure about it all - us all frolicking around, with Phoebe/Lucas splashing everywhere. But when Chloe and I came out of the lake, she was crawling around the place and stood on the edge of the sand on her knees sort of dancing to the water. It was so funny, she really loved it. Maybe she'll be a water baby unlike her mum!
Bit sad that we aren't staying longer at Lake Powell as the RV park is right next to the beach/lake but can't do everything. We then had a rather scary two hours of driving...as in all the excitement of the lake trip we had forgotten to fill up with petrol. We realised that the next town with a gas station was about 40 miles away....luckily we got there as the red light started flashing and all was fine.
We drove on to Bryce Canyon and arrived as the sun was coming down. We drove through Red Canyon which looked amazingly eerie in the early evening sun, and then arrived at our new RV park - Ruby's Inn...which looks great. As we drove into our slot we saw a deer dart out, we have a whole area for ourselves and we are really close to the pool - so looking forward to our stay here. We are quite high up so for the first time its a bit cooler - no air con and temperatures below 80 for tomorrow!
