Where I stayed

Well we were going to stay in Cintsa another day in the hope of sunshine but when we woke at 6:30 to the sound of rain we figured a drive day was much better suited so after packing up and making breakfast in the drizzle we hit the road. Took the coast road through East London, Port Alfred and Port Elizabeth. Had a few chuckles at some road signs - there was one for "West Bank, Military Road". Another one for "East London - Cuba". Can't be too many places in the world with that. Should have taken a photo.

Meant to spend days catching up on blog and diary but spent it shopping instead. So many surf shops and discount outlets - Quiksilver, Billabong, RipCurl, Roxy all having sales. HELLO! How could I say no when tops were R80 (US$8)! The most expensive thing I saw not on sale was R500 which is just crazy when in the UK it would have easily been 150 quid. Tiree girl you would be in heaven!!

First two nights we stayed at a place called Dreamland (R350). Studio flat in beautiful house right on Supertubes beach. Gorgeous setting, very similar to that found down south of WA. Was a nice change from camping - bed, TV, own bathroom, kitchenette, sofa and beautiful balcony to chill out with wine and cheese at sunset.

Had to move up the road on the last night as Dreamland was fully booked so checked into a studio flat at Beach Music (R200). Gorgeous two story house with polished boards, massive deck overlooking Supertubes and shady courtyard off which came the studio. Really lovely place run by the daughter and son of the owners who couldn't have been more friendly.

I introduced Oliver to the wonderful world of shopping like a female/me i.e. doing a loop of all the stores, trying things on then another loop to collect everything you want to buy. This took up the best part of 3 days!! Soooo much stuff... where it's all going to go I've no idea but god it feels good to have new clothes!!

The water was cold but not freezing so in between shopping we took off down to the beach for a swim, body bash, sunbathe and to watch the boats battle it out against the breakers. Quite a spectacle.

As much as he'll hate to admit it, Oliver turned into a shopping machine. He was loving it, although thought shopping with me a pain cause I never objected to anything. Buy buy buy!

Usually after a stressful day laying on the beach or shopping we retired to a bar or restaurant for much needed rehydration beers and energy enhancing food such as eisban, steaks, ribs.... basically meat, meat and more meat! Yum!

Spent a bit of time on the internet but with so much to do outside it proved a little difficult to muster up enthusiasm to sit for hours in front of a computer meaning diaries and the blog were left pretty much untouched. Oop's.

Did some research into cage diving with Great Whites - turning out to be a lot more hassle than expected with various departure points and price options. Will have to see if my mate Eugene knows anyone in Mossel Bay.

Sarah and Martin emailed to very nicely offer us the spare room in their luxurious penthouse apartment in Cape Town. Oh la la. We've managed to find a cheap hotel for the duration of our stay but not for the one or two nights we'll be in Cape Town for the cricket so may take them up on their offer. Yay play time!!

Until then it's more surf, sunbathing and shopping. Hard life eh?!
