He was a nice enough guy. It was sort of like one of those job interviews, where you are not really interviewed, but the interviewer is more interested in presenting his (usually a he, of course) point of view or whatever. So I got the history of the house. I guess the property goes back to Ottoman times for the family. But you wouldn't know that from the structure, only the location. The location is something like 80 paces (going up hill; more going down, due to steps) from the entry to the garden of the Yeşil Camii (Green Mosque) in Bursa. Adjacent to the Green Mosque, on the other side, is the Green Turbe (Tomb), of someone I haven't fixed yet. Covered in green Iznik tiles it is one of the signature landmarks of Bursa.
Anyway, back to the house. The doctor has a gardener whom he enlists to "manage" the house property. So far the guy has been sort of a flake, missing on two appointed meetings. The one yesterday, so I am told, was on account of his having to take his son to the hospital. And he himself was feeling none to well. But I don't know what that was all about. Only that he didn't show, and didn't call explaining why.
For that meeting my main Turkish friend could not attend himself. So, I had called two persons whom I met through the http://www.couchsurfing.com social network website. The first was a guy who had just introduced himself to me via the site's internal email. And the second was a gal that had done the same, only some days before. She speaks very good English, having worked three years at the Australian Consulate in Cannakkale (the major town across the Straits from the Gallipoli Battlefields. When I commented that she sounded very Aussie she said, "Ah, you just made my dye."
Well, when the property manager guy failed to show, after more than an hour (the Turks seem to take this in stride), she called someone and got the doctor's number, and set me up for a meeting today.
The idea from and with the doctor was to get the key to me tomorrow. But, characteristically, I haven't heard anything further to that as yet.
