We were supposed to meet with a fellow CouchSurfer in Fortaleza but we never received a response from him (turns out the Internet server on the ship "crashed").  Nonetheless we had a wonderful time in Fortaleza with fellow cruisers.  We visited the local market and then walked down to the main beach (30C by the way) where we secured a very comfortable table at a beach-side restaurant where we sat under a large umbrella; watched the locals; and sampled the local beverages. Being more than half baked by this point in time, we hailed a cab and headed back to the ship.

We are at sea at the moment, inbound to Recife and hopefully I will be able to post this report as I hear the Internet is up and running again.

Hope you folks are "enjoying" being up to your armpits in snow as much as we are "suffering" through clear skies, warm breezes, 24 hour non-stop eating and generally lazing about.

What a change of seasons you've experienced- from winter to summer in the blink of an eye! Well, needless to say we're into our 4th month of winter weather here in Ottawa. Actually, today was very pleasant-blue skies & warm for February. Tomorrow will bring freezing rain & ice pellets with rain on Wed.
We were in Barry's Bay this past weekend visiting Ian's mother. I spoke with your Mom, Lynne, a few times last week. She seems fine & always talkative when I call. Shelley wasn't able to come on Saturday or Monday since she had some medical tests/ doctor's appointments. I'll call Aunt Jean again tomorrow.
I'm volunteering at a speed skating competition on Saturday & Sunday. Ian leaves each morning for work by 7:15- quite a change from his retirement days.
I'm so happy to hear that you're both having a busy & fun time.
Looking forward to seeing some of your photos & reading about your adventures.
Take care.
