Who would have thought it was already 12 months since I was hiking along the Wild Coast of South Africa....in the rain. How times change. Today is a beautifully sunny day in Gauteng with 'Simpons' style clouds decorating the sky to the East. But sadly that is not enough to keep my wanderlust feet in one place. Because I am free, you see, free! The project can wait - it's time to hit the road.
Who knows where I will end up. I have a ticket North to Zimbabwe - a place I remember from a long time ago. Perhaps I will make it back to my old home in Watsomba, deep in the Eastern Highlands? Perhaps I will go West to Zambia and hit the train to Dar es Salem? Perhaps New Years will be spent camping alongside hippos in the delta? But one thing is for sure - even the mere thought of getting away and relying on myself makes me heart pound with happiness. This year has been a strain, and today has been a long time coming.
So I wish you all a very Happy Christmas, wherever you may be.
Enjoy the peace of your heart and remember, 2007 is going to be a good one!
Lots of wonderful kilometers to you all.
