It's summertime. Great to be outside after dark, stroll the streets ... and see fireworks along the banks of Tama River.
So I present you with some snapshots (attempt No. 1, I'll be a pro at it after 55 more tries, haha) from the fireworks event of a few weeks ago. All over Japan there are fireworks shows at night in small towns and big cities. Perhaps the biggest and best is held at Sumida River in Tokyo. It's shown live on TV, much like 4th of July extravaganzas in the United States.
At Tama River, people brought fold-up chairs, snacks, cold drinks, friends and families. It was THE social event of the night, you can say for hundreds.
Words like subarashii ("wonderful"), kawaii ("pretty/cute") became the topic du jour.
Good fireworks, many were fantastic, actually, and a good time.
