We love Dubrovnik! Flight was grueling, involving a lot of running through airports with loaded packs. (Suddenly our packing seemed excessive and I wished we had brought much less stuff with us.) But it's a beautiful city.walked around, found maps coffee, ice cream, wine, and finally supper (but only after watching the sunset I've the Adriatic at the Buza Bar that was so highly recommended to us). I)m using the internet cafe across the street from our apartment, and the Croatian keyboard is a little different from ours (the z and y are transposed, and there are about 5 more consonants than we use, so the punctuation is all moved around. Very confusing.) This morning, we woke up very early, walked for a few hours (to the open air market, around the old city before the cruise ships came in, into the less-old city, to a lovely park with a great view. Then got coffee at a wonderful place just outside the gates and watched the buses spew out tourists for the day. Fun to try to guess where each group comes from. Steve and Susan should show up any minute, and we have a bunch of restaurants to suggest for tonight if they are up for it. (after a glass of wine at the Buza, again.) The people who told us to expect mediocre food with an unfriendly attitude were WRONG. We already have favorite places for coffee, for ice cream (the man who made us taste the black chocolate ice cream even though we weren´t planning on having any said "I know how to reel in a customer"). Oh and a favorite bakery for wonderful slabs of cheese borek. My guess is that Steve and Susan will crash out early -- maybe Booth and I will make it to an old church for a classical guitar concert. Then we will still have two more days here! Last night at the Buza Bar, as we were watching the sun set over the Adriatic, we both got a little overwhelmed with how lucky we are to be able to spend time in some of the places we go to. We feel very fortunate. Love to all.
