Where I stayed
There was no problem with immigration and after nail-biting wait for our backpacks we got into taxi or as what we thought was taxi. No problem there either. Quick check by local police and fast drive through town in vehicle called LADA and we were in front of prebooked accommodation. And as the guidebook warned us, our room was already taken. With no hesitation our pretended taxi drove as to another accommodation. Casa Flori is relatively clean and friendly accomodation in Cuban family house with ensuite and terrace. Our Spanish lessons are already paying off
Breakfast: tea, fruit juices, toasted baguette with cheese and some ham what more could we wish for. Lady Flori looked at me said macho and kept bringing food to our table J We got into chat (of coarse in Spanish) with people from next room. Family from Urugay and using hands and guestures they offered us lift to hill from were you can see whole Holguin. It was good start. We climbed stairs to look out and it was worth it, although we looked like we just got out shower. It is proper hot and sticky here…
We said good bye to nice Uruguay people and walked back to our Casa through town centre. It was experience on its own. So much different to what we have seen before. Tired from the walk and also bit of jet leg we decided to turn the AC on and have a nap.
We are going to try to get some local snack and hopefully find internet café. We will be moving to coastline tomorrow for another couple nights.
