We're here on Gili Air, the quietest of the Gili Islands. It is, as promised, quiet, scenic, relaxing and cheap. Every one in a while a horse-and-cart goes by on the pressed-sand pathway (no motorized vehicles here!). There are adorable little cats everywhere, and no dogs, which makes both Oli and I happy. We're staying in a cute little bungalow right on the beach, that for inexplainable reasons comes equipped with a huge tv and dvd player, and tons of bootleg movies (we're not complaining!).

It's really really nice here. If I had any complaint, it would be that although the island is surrounded by beach, the tide goes out really quickly and reveals miles of seaweed and dead coral which is hard to walk on, so I haven't been swimming yet. But apparently there are cheap snorkling and island-hopping trips to better swimming areas, where you can swim up to seaturtles (I want! I want!). So it's all good.

Last night I played fire with some locals who had their poi out and let me use their kerosene. I'm so bad at performing 'cos I get nervous but I had a really good time anyway. I ended up breaking my glow-poi when I swung them too hard and the keyring ripped through the rubberloop :o( So it's fire or daytime poi until I get new ones or repair the broken one.

The internet here is SLOWMOTION so I will wait to upload pics until we get back to the 'mainland' (yeah I know Lombok and Bali are also islands.. but compared to Gili Air's 1 1/2hr walking circumference they're mainland enough for me!). We get a beautiful sunset here, and the ocean is crystal, and our bungalow has a giant seashell for a sink. Oh, and all the runing water is saltwater, which kinda sucks but I guess it's economical.

So yeah. Relaxinating ;o)

edit: Internet is having a burst of enthusiasm so I will try to upload pics now!
