The apartment I will be living in while in Prague is located in the Florence district of Prague and is in close proximity to grocery stores, bars, coffee shops, bus stops, and pretty much everything else. I will be living with 4 other guys in the apartment, all of whom seem pretty down to earth from the first impressions, even though one of them is a vegan and I am shocked he chose to come to Prague which has very little in the greens and non meats department.

After unpacking some of the students went downstairs to the bar on the first floor and had some beers. Yes the rumors are true the beer is seriously cheaper than the water. I had 3 beers that were pretty good for about 70 crowns (Czech Currency) which is about 3.80 USD. After that most of us went to the grocery store which is about a 5 min walk from the apartment and got the usual necessities.

Last night we met up with the program coordinator and walked through Prague while it was snowing, yes it snowed my first day here but it really wasn't that bad at all. We then went to a restaurant and ate with the whole group of around 60 people. They served the traditional Czech Cuisine shnitzle and beer with a side of potato salad. I have quickly learned that it is very customary to be served beer with each meal and they often bring you the house beer without even asking, and will keep bringing you more unless you tell them that you are done.

After dinner the group went out to a couple bars, the first of was an American bar that a past USAC student started after he fell in love with Prague and moved back here after graduation. This is one of the few bar that carries american sports so I will be there watching football and basketball a good amount I can presume. Following a couple hours at the Drunken Monkey (American Bar), we proceeded to go to Dejavu which was more of a nightclub with a pretty good dj and stayed there for a little while before returning back to the apartment around 3 completely exhausted.

Overall, it was a pretty epic start to what should be a life changing semester.
