Thurs.21st May. Kunming - Xingyi. 316k's.
It was chaotic peak hour traffic when we left Kunming (8.15) this morning and a lovely sunny day.
We did the touristy thing and paid a well worthwhile visit to a Stone Forest a couple of hours into our drive. Masses of tall limestone pinnacles many with overhangs which gave the impression of being beneath the trees in a forest. It covered quite a large area with stairs and caves-we even managed to get temporarily lost!
The everchanging landscape still provided us with stunning scenery. We noticed more and more animals (cows, horses, buffalo) being used as farm animals.
Driving through one village we wondered why every few metres the road was covered with dried wheat. It soon became apparent that we vehicles were the wheat threshers!

You could be a landscape photographer, Susie!
Hello D & S. We've just returned from a trip to Brisbane to visit family and you've got two more fans eager to hear of your adventures! Ross and Margie send their love and wish you lots of luck. I've spent the last 20 minutes reading through the blogs and studying all your lovely photos! You have a great 'eye' for a photo Suz! I love the captions like 'lovely bunch of coconuts' and 'hot dog'! Do hope said adorable pup wasn't lined up ready for the oven!!!! China looks magnificent and Helen is certainly helping you to make the most of your travels! Take care and carry on campers! Big hugs from us Harrisons xxxx.

Re: You could be a landscape photographer, Susie!T
Am sure you had a lovely time with the family and in warmer climes too! I hear it has been jolly cold in Christchurch so it was great you could get away. China really is magnificent and having Helen with us sure is a bonus. Ordering meals, for example, and going to the supermarket where mostly nothing is in English. Am hinting that we might need a guide in Khazakstan - sure takes the pressure off and they know all the best spots to visit. Hi there Ross and Margie if you are reading this! And a big Chinese hug for Charlie x
